Another Friday rolls around. Fortunately, my life has pretty much returned to normal, if there is such a thing as normal.
The highlight of my week was getting back in the routine of taking an early morning walk with Chelsey, my yellow lab. Last year from June until September the dawn walk had been an important part of each day. I got up at 5:15, dressed immediately and put Chelsey on her leash. We made a 1 mile loop around the neighborhood. The only mornings we missed were when it rained. If I lay in bed a few minutes after my alarm went off, I would find Chelsey’s mug right up face and she would be staring at me. Unfortunately, the walks came to an abrupt end after I tore a meniscus on one of those walks. I was not recovered enough to continue the walks before the cold winter set in. I am healed now and have had a lazy winter and spring. With it now getting light early enough I am back at the walks. For me, it is a wonderful start to the day, and hopefully the pounds that I put on during my lack of activity will find a way to fall off. Chelsey is a year older and a year less limber so I am increasing the distance gradually, with hopes that the mile loop will not be too much for her.
