I came home from work last Friday not feeling well, and iended up with a bad cold. Most of last weekend I spent in bed and still was wiped out on Monday so I had to take a rare sick day. After another day with a lot of sleep I felt better so I went back to work on Tuesday. I was still pretty drained on Tuesday and Wednesday although I managed to have productive days at work. I finally felt up to resuming my morning walks on Thursday morning. That makes for one happy yellow Labrador retriever, Chelsey, whose home and walks I share. Continue reading

Limiting the Blog Love – A Tuesday Top Ten List

Top Ten TuesdayI am not a blogging expert and am really very new at this whole blogging thing. One thing I have learned is that blogging and following blogs can be all time-consuming. I am learning that I cannot possibly follow each blog that catches my eye. I have to make decisions about which ones to follow.  It comes down to time management. There are so many super blogs that really speak to me. Those are the ones on which I will concentrate.

For this week’s list, I am listing blog characteristics that will keep me from following a blog, or cause me to stop following a blog that I previously followed.  This is my personal criteria. I am not trying to impose my criteria on anyone else. I am simply stating those things that I will not follow. Restricting my blogs may cause me to miss some really great information, but realistically I cannot follow everything.

Casual Friday 3/20/15

Enjoy this week’s version.

I follow college basketball and in particular my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin.  On Sunday Wisconsin won the Big Ten Conference Tournament and within an hour they were named one of the number one seeds in the NCAA tournament.  My hope going in to the selection show was that Wisconsin would not end up in the same region as Kentucky or Arizona.  I got half of my wish.  Kentucky is by far the favorite to win the whole thing so who would choose to meet them in an early round? That part worked out for me.  If both schools last that long they would not meet until the Final Four.  Arizona also has a great team. Because I have good friends and family in Arizona, I would prefer that the teams would not have to meet each other before the Final Four.  Arizona and Wisconsin are assigned to the same region and if they both keep winning there would be a rematch of last years Elite Eight game which Wisconsin won in overtime.  I will watch a lot of basketball over the next couple weeks.

Casual Friday – 3/13/15

This is the week that was.

It was a full week at work trying to catch up on things that remained unfinished after two three-day work weeks.  One fantastic thing about my job is that I am never bored.  The work days fly by.

One of my colleagues from my previous work site before I was promoted was in town for meetings so she spent the night at our home.  It was great to catch up on old times.  And we played a good game of Mexican Train dominoes which has become a tradition for us.

My Take on Blogging Awards

I published the first post on my blog on January 7, 2015.  I received my first blogging award nomination on January 22.  I appreciated the nomination for the affirmation that my blog had been noticed,  but it did not make me think that I have a superior or exceptionally special blog. There is no voting process so at most it is one person who thinks my blog is deserving.  I was grateful for the nomination because the award process is an excellent way to build blog traffic for myself, for the person who nominated me and for the blogs I chose to nominate.

Meandering Through the World of Blog

In my Blogging 101 class I am learning about being a good neighbor in the blogging world, including visiting different sites, adding sites to follow and sharing information from different blogs.  I have found so many interesting blogs, and even though sometimes have no interest in some of the topics and back right out, I am broadening my interest base.  It truly amazes me how the blogging world represents such a diverse range of interests, topics and passions.  I feel somewhat like a kid in a candy store, moving from one delectable blog to another, reading one blog which gives me an interesting link to another blog,  clicking on it and finding a link to yet another one that I must read.  I become hopelessly lost and never find my way back to the first one that grabbed my attention.  I spend so much time sightseeing that I forget I have an assignment to do.

Back to the task at hand which is to expound on an intriguing blog that we had found and commented on.  This blog post Celebrate is a motivational post telling the reader, “You are really great.”  It should be encouraging to people who might feel that they do not have much intrinsic value.  It encourages them to celebrate themselves.  Heaven knows we need more positivity in the world.
