I had a forced absence from the board because of work obligations so I have missed several weeks of my Tuesday lists. I must try to catch up.
The last two lists I published dealt with dogs: 10 Favorite Dog Quotes and 10 Things Dogs Can Teach Us. For my comeback Tuesday List of Ten I again have dogs as the topic. This week I share the Top Ten Dog Names of 2014, as listed on iheartdogs.com.

As you can see, the Rover.com lists correspond closely to the iheartdogs.com list although the female names are not in the same order.

My two dogs pictured above are named Chelsey and Snoopy. Both are 14 years old. I did not name either of them. Chelsey (the yellow lab) is my daughter’s dog and my daughter chose her name. Snoopy (the piebald dachshund) was a rescue dog and he was already named when we got him from the pound. At one point I had told my daughter that if we ever got another male dog I would name it Leroy Jethro Gibbs, from NCIS fame. However, I expect the actual name would be whatever seemed to fit the dog’s personality.

No dogs now, but I’ve had Molly and Max (in the ’70s) and Maggie (in the ’80s). Ahead of my time?

No dogs but I did have a rescue cat named Bobbie. We got him as a 3 week old kitten and he had wobbly cat syndrome which caused his head to bob a lot. Hence the name 🙂

That’s an interesting story behind the name. I don’t know a lot about cats but I have never heard of wobbly cat syndrome.

Well the scientific name is CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia… it’s a mouthful!). More commonly known as Wobbly Cat or Drunken Sailor. It’s a neurological condition that causes them to have poor motor coordination.
That’s probably why our poor Bobbie was abandoned on the street. Thankfully by the time we had to give him up a couple of months later he was much, much better than when we found him 🙂

Any decent human being would have done the same 🙂 He was tiny, visibly affected with CH and completely deaf to boot. He would never have survived out on the streets. Today he is in a loving home and is a lean, mean purring machine 😀

Our dog is Rusty. We didn’t name him but I am assuming his name came from his rust-colored spots (he’s a Brittany spaniel).
Funny – my neighbors have a Buddy and a Bella. My in-laws have a Max. I have had a Bailey and a Sadie. That top 10 list is pretty on point.

Interesting that all these dogs you know have names on the list. I really like Brittany spaniels and Rusty seems like a great name for one.

My dog is called Molly – it doesn’t seem to be so popular as its ranking suggests. She’s only 18 months old 🙂

I don’t think I know anyone personally who had named their dog Molly, but another person also commented that they had a dog named Molly.
